PROJECT TITLE: MODEL M!NORITY The Musical

SYNOPSIS OR PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In a present-day New York City suburb, Nina prepares to meet her white girlfriend Jade's parents for the first time. They playfully ask her in the opening number, "Who The Hell Are You?," leading her to realize she might not even know. When a news report of an anti-Asian hate crime against someone Nina knows plays on TV, she is sent into a dizzying journey of reevaluating her relationship with her white girlfriend & whiteness itself...through song!

UNION STATUS/CONTRACT: USC-SAG Agreement (Both non-union and SAG actors eligible)

PAY: $0/Copy/Credit/Meal (per USC requirements)

TIME COMMITMENT (Rehearsals, Performance or Shoot Dates): Choreography and stunt rehearsals based on availability in Nov 2023, principal photography 6-7 days between Dec 1-10 2023

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:

[TITA ELLIE] 45 to 70 years old, Filipino woman. A beacon of her community, known as somebody who takes people in. Encourages people to embrace their Filipino culture and see the best in themselves. Must be comfortable in a singing and dancing role. Minor stunts involved.

[NINA] 18 to 35 years old, Filipino woman. Hopelessly in love with her white girlfriend, and will avoid confronting her own discomfort to make others happy. She does not have much of a community of her own, and realizes her girlfriend's family might not be the one she needs. Must be comfortable in a singing and dancing role. Stunts involved.

[ISABELLA] 30 to 50 years old, Filipino woman. Overwhelmed by the responsibilities that have been thrust upon her after her mother's death, she is eager to carry on her legacy, but is not given the time to mourn.

[YOUNG NINA] 10 to 18 years old, Filipino girl. Impressionable and feeling the pressure of white beauty standards, finds comfort and self-love in learning about her Filipino culture. Must be comfortable in a singing and dancing role.
