Far Bar

Hello and welcome to the first episode of Little Tokyo Eats! Visit Far Bar and then come to EWP. Read below about Far Bar’s history:

Far Bar is located in Little Tokyo in Downtown LA and is an anchor to the local community. Long before Far Bar as we know it was here, a Cantonese restaurant named Far East Cafe made its mark on the Historic Little Tokyo District. Following the release of the wrongly imprisoned Japanese and Japanese American people during World War Two, Far East Cafe allowed families and community members to eat for free or on a “pay when you can” basis until they got back on their feet. Sadly, the restaurant was condemned after the Northridge Earthquake in 1994.

Today, you can see pieces of the building’s history in the infused menu, preserved Chop Suey sign, and the preserved menus and displays around the business. They have a huge selection of Japanese Beers (the largest in Southern California), and were named Los Angeles Magazine’s “Best Places to Drink Japanese Whisky”. Not to mention the food is delicious.

Visit Far Bar and EWP soon :)
