East West Players kicked off its 50th Anniversary Season Golden with our summer soiree and fundraising benefit on Saturday, August 16, 2014. It was the perfect summer day in Los Angeles – a hot sun with a cool breeze and the Aratani Courtyard quickly filled up with good vibes from long time and new EWP patrons. Our hosts Parvesh Cheena and Amy Hill provided lots of laughs and encouraged everyone to participate in the opportunity drawings.

As the sun set over Little Tokyo, guests enjoyed a delicious Pan Asian dinner al fresco specially created by celebrity chef Katie Chin in collaboration with Food Fetish Catering.

Following dinner, guests made their way into the David Henry Hwang Theater for the show, featuring the new generation of Asian Pacific Islander entertainers. The show, directed by Marilyn Tokuda and musical direction by Marc Macalintal, concluded with a standing ovation from the audience.

The festivities continued back in the courtyard with a variety of desserts donated by Majestic Caterers. Eager ticketholders also waited anxiously for their numbers to be called out in hopes they’d be lucky enough to win one of the amazing opportunity drawing prizes.

The event produced by Snehal Desai and co-chaired by John Gong and Laura Takaragawa for the Board of Directors was a memorable evening. Thank you for celebrating and supporting the next generation!
