East West Players, the longest running theater of color in the US is seeking actors for a world premiere play, co-written by Anna Moench, Lina Patel, and Andrew Saito.

Developed to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Executive Order 9066, the project is a co-production with the Japanese American National Museum and will be performed for a limited run at the museum, as well as, at schools throughout Los Angeles county for East West Player’s Theatre for Youth Tour.

Character Breakdown
Seeking 3 actors. Age 20’s-40’s to play teens to 40’s.
Male or Female, Asian American, Pacific Islander, South Asian or Native American highly encouraged to submit.
Excellent vocal and physical range, to play a wide range of theatrical styles. Performers will take on multiple characters that may range in age, gender and experience to recount WWII and Japanese Internment, Poston War Relocation Center and Colorado River Indian Reservation, Post 9/11 Airport Travel.
Ability with heightened language from classical text to spoken word a plus.

Minimal rehearsals in December 2016 and 4 rehearsals a week for 3 weeks: end of January through mid- February 2017.
Performances on weekday days at schools throughout the county mid-February through early April 2017 (actual schedule TBA pending bookings), and monthly performances at the Japanese American National Museum April through August 2017.
Non-Union Contract ($600 honoraria for rehearsal period, $50 per performance).
